Are you looking for a great way to keep fit? Or just
looking to burn off a few pounds in a casual and sociable environment?
Would you like to meet new people in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere?
Joining Pershore Phoenix Dragon Boat Team in Pershore could be just
what you've been looking for.
Are you concerned that you should be getting more
exercise but don't want to join an expensive gym that you'll never
visit and you find jogging on your own to be boring? Are you finding
that as time goes by, you're getting out less and your life is slipping
into a dull routine?
There's no need to be worried about "fitting in"
with a new crowd, the team are all outgoing friendly people and are all
very welcoming for new members. In no time at all you'll be one of the
crew.
You do not need to be super-fit to join the team and
many have joined the team in order to get fit. It isn't difficult to
learn the basics of Dragon Boating and the rest of the crew will always
be on hand to give useful technical tips.
The team is very sociable and we have a great time
with the other teams. The winning is a nice bonus though! The team
caters for all strengths and levels of experience. Everyone is made to
feel welcome and you'll be shown how good timing and technique can
overcome the strength of teams such as the Royal Marines.
You will need to be available on Sunday mornings
between 10.30am and 12am, and preferably available for occasional day
long competitions, usually on Sundays. There's also an optional evening
training session on a weekday during summer months. You should be able
to swim at least 50m in your clothes and be confident in water
(although only John has ever fallen in!). All equipment will be
provided but you'll need to wear something suitable for general
exercise. Denim must not be worn. Most importantly though, you must
have a good sense of humour and enjoy socialising.
If you would like to join or just find out a little more about Dragon Boating, please contact us. We are always keen to take on new members.
The Pershore Football Ground, our home, is in King George's Way. Park in the gravel car park on the left as you come into the road.
