Who are we?
Pershore Phoenix is a rapidly growing club that is committed to the sport of Dragon Boat Racing. From a fledgling base of about 20 paddlers from the merger of two local teams, in the past 2 years we have recruited and retained at least another 10 committed paddlers, with 5 members working hard to be selected for various GB teams. Since the start of this year, we have already had interest from another 5 people wanting to join our Club. We have achieved this through various promotional events, and those planned for this year include:
- The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Regatta (with extensive TV & press coverage)
- Pershore River Festival (new event for 2012)
- Pershore Plum Fayre Day (over 19,000 visitors last year)
- Evesham Festival of Sport including the Olympic Torch Relay
- Venice Dragon Boat Festival (8 of our paddlers involved)
- European Dragon Boat Championships in Nottingham (Team GB / Club Event)
- British Dragon Boat Association League Events (held throughout England)
- Pershore Phoenix Dragon Boat Event for SPICE UK Adventure Sports & Social Group
- Pershore Phoenix Dragon Boat Event for Charity

In addition we are actively seeking grant funding to improve our club facilities. This year’s focus is to secure funds for a proper storage unit for our equipment. Last year we were awarded a £1300 Sportivate (Sport England) Grant to run Youth Training Courses in Dragon Boating, which we aimed at Explorer Scouts. After completing their training with our Club, they then went on to victory in the 20th National Youth Dragon Boat Championships:
